1-22 Woodside Terrace
An ensemble of residential buildings is located at 1–22 Woodside Terrace in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1970 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. It is also part of a more comprehensive monument ensemble.
history
The buildings were constructed between 1835 and 1842. The Scottish architect George Smith was responsible for the design in collaboration with John Baird . In 1878 renovations were carried out. The total cost of this was £ 7,340.
description
The classicist row of buildings is located on the eastern edge of Kelvingrove Park . Across the street is 1–28 Woodside Place , 6–19 Woodside Crescent to the right, and 1–12 Claremont Terrace to the left . The ensemble is divided into two groups, which are separated by Lynedoch Terrace . The south-facing main facades are three axes wide. The slightly protruding outer houses are paired to form blocks six axes wide. The entrances, accessible via short front stairs, are designed with Doric columns. The paired entrances to the outer houses are decorated with triglyph friezes and a stone balustrade . The pilastrated doors are equipped with side windows and fighter windows. On the first floor, simple cornices on consoles crown the windows. A window cornice runs underneath .
