Anna Hasselborg (born May 5, 1989 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish curler . She plays in the position of skip.

Career

At the Mixed European Championships in 2008 she won the bronze medal in the team led by Niklas Edin .

Hasselborg skipped Sweden's junior team at the 2009 Junior World Championships and when they won the 2010 Junior World Championship . Their team prevailed in the final against the favored Canadian team of Skip Rachel Homan , who had already defeated Sweden twice during the tournament.

In 2014 she played for the first time as Skip at the European Championships in Champéry and finished fifth. At the European Championships in Glasgow in 2016 , she made it into the final, but had to admit defeat to Skip Wiktorija Moissejewa's Russian team 4-6 because Moissejewa was able to steal two stones in the end.

At her first World Cup in Beijing in 2017 , she finished fourth with her team after losing the game for third place to the Scottish team of Eve Muirhead 4-6. After a flawless preliminary round and a 7: 3 semi-final victory over Italy, Hasselborg and her team lost 3: 6 in the final of the 2017 European Championships in St. Gallen against the Scottish team around Skip Eve Muirhead and secured the silver medal.

Hasselborg and her team represented Sweden at the 2018 Winter Olympics . After seven wins and two losses in the Round Robin , she moved into the final round. In the semifinals, the Swedes beat the British team around Eve Muirhead and in the final they won the gold medal after beating South Korea with Skip Kim Eun-jung .

At the 2018 World Cup in North Bay , Canada , she moved into the playoffs with her team after ten wins and two defeats in the round robin. In the semifinals she won against Russia with Skip Viktorija Moissejewa . In the final, she met the Canadian team around Jennifer Jones , who she had to admit defeat 6: 7 after the additional end. In November 2018 she won her first gold medal at the 2018 European Championships with a final victory against Switzerland (Skip: Silvana Tirinzoni ) .

Hasselborg plays on the World Curling Tour and has won several tournaments there. In September 2018 she won her first Grand Slam of Curling tournament with the Elite 10 in Chatham-Kent . It was her first victory in a Grand Slam tournament, but also the first victory of a Swedish women's team. In October 2018, she won the second Grand Slam in a row at the Masters in Truro .

At the Mixed Doubles World Championship 2019 in Stavanger she took part with her playing partner Oskar Eriksson and won gold. In the final they defeated the Canadian team around Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman 6: 5. Their only defeat in the course of the tournament was in the group stage 6: 7 against Canada.

Private life

Her father Mikael , her brother Marcus and her uncle Stefan are also curlers and have taken part in the world championships for Sweden .
