Scheme of a gallery grave

The Allée couverte of Jappeloup (also called Jappeloup Dolmen) is a French gallery grave . It is located east of Trausse near Carcassonne in the north of the Aude department , Occitania region .

The classic Allée couverte is more massive than the smaller ones in the area, but not as complex as the Saint Eugène complex in the Laure valley, just a few kilometers away . The long rectangular chamber made of 13 partially collapsed supporting stones, all of which are missing ceiling tiles, has a chamber divided by a half stone and on the south side, coaxial, a rectangular core hole as access, half of which is cut off.

The interior is about 4 m long, 2.5 m wide and filled with rubble. The dolmen is still partially surrounded on three sides by the stone mound.

There is a record that the site was thoroughly examined in the late 18th century and that all finds can be found in a museum owned by the owner.

The nearby, heavily disturbed dolmens of Bel-Soleil are megalithic systems north of Félines-Minervois near Carcassonne in the north of the Hérault department .
