The pop song All by Myself was written in 1975 by the American pianist , singer and songwriter Eric Carmen using a theme from the 2nd movement of Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, composed in 1901, and on the album Eric Carmen and released as a single .
history
After Eric Carmen left the band The Raspberries, which he co-founded in 1970, in 1975, he devoted himself to his first solo album. The single All by Myself , which was shortened compared to the album version , reached top positions in the music charts worldwide and sold over 1 million times in the USA alone. While there were no longer any third-party rights there, around 12% of the royalties obtained in the respective country were paid to the Rachmaninoff estate administration in numerous other countries . The cover version of Celine Dion , published in 1996, also became a worldwide hit.
