Allan Lamar Green (born September 20, 1979 in Tulsa , Oklahoma , USA ) is an American boxer in the super middleweight division .
amateur
Green has had some major achievements as an amateur but never qualified to compete in the Olympics . Among other things, he was a five-time Oklahoma State champion and a four-time winner of regional Golden Gloves championships. In 2002 Green won the National Golden Gloves Championship, knocking out his opponent Tommy Crupe from Detroit, Michigan after six seconds in the round of 16. Green holds the record for the fastest knockout. in amateur boxing and underbid Mike Tyson , who had held this record since 1982, by two seconds. In the final, Green then won against Curtis Stevens .
Professional career
Allan Green made his debut on November 9, 2002 against Robert Dykes as a professional boxer and won by TKO in the first round. In his fourth professional fight in March 2003 he defeated the later WBO interim cruiserweight champion, Ola Afolabi, over four rounds on points. Green won 23 fights in the first five years of his professional career, so he caused a sensation in 2005 with a spectacular knockout in just 18 seconds against his undefeated compatriot Jaidon Codrington. This knockout was voted Knockout of the Year 2005 by Ring Magazine .
On March 3, 2007, Green competed in the Puerto Rican capital San Juan against the powerful Colombian Edison Miranda . Although he scored a knockdown in the eighth round, he had to hit the ground twice in the tenth round and finally lost on points.
He won his next six fights, including against Rubin Williams, Carl Daniels, Carlos De León junior and the unbeaten Tarvis Simms. After Jermain Taylor withdrew from the competition after a heavy knockout defeat in the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament, Green was supposed to box against Sakio Bika from Cameroon on February 5, 2010 to replace Taylor to determine. Since Bika canceled the duel at short notice without giving any reason, Green immediately took Taylor's place. His first fight as part of the tournament on June 19, 2010 in Oakland against Andre Ward, he was clearly defeated on points. Green lost the second fight against the 41-year-old Jamaican Glen Johnson by knockout in round eight and was eliminated from the Super Six tournament without points.
