Allasdale ( Scottish Gaelic : Athalasdal ) is a village on the island of Barra , one of the southern islands of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland .
In 2007, a number of prehistoric structures that were buried under sand dunes and were partially blown free by the winter storms of 2005 were examined. Among the finds were Bronze Age stone boxes , a stone with plow marks and the remains of Iron Age round houses that were similar to those at Skara Brae on the Orkney . A wheelhouse was connected to a basement - a structure that suggests the practice of rituals.
Nearby is the cairn of Dun Bharpa .
