The lime tree at Allenspacher Hof is the oldest and strongest tree in the Tuttlingen district . The Allenspacher Hof is located on the Großer Heuberg near Böttingen , near the border with the municipality of Königsheim .
The summer linden tree ( Tilia platyphyllos ) planted around 1450 has a trunk circumference of 8.95 meters, the crown is about 25 meters high. It is mainly based on the stronger of the two main trunks, the other has inclined more and more to the earth over the years, until a concrete support was finally attached. Outside of this support it was removed. As a result, a steeply upwardly directed secondary crown has developed. The trunk part, which runs almost horizontally to the ground up to the support, is completely torn at the top and largely hollow. It was provided with a sheet metal cover on the top to protect against moisture penetration. Despite this severe damage, the tree is considered vital overall.
The linden tree is a designated natural monument .
