The Allgemeine Fleischer-Zeitung was founded in Berlin in 1884 . Today, as the afz-general butcher newspaper , it is the largest weekly newspaper for the butcher's trade , slaughtering , cutting, processing and the meat trade. It is also the official organ of the German Butchers' Association .

Afz appears in the publishing group Deutscher Fachverlag in Frankfurt am Main .
