The AHG Allgemeine Hospitalgesellschaft , based in Düsseldorf, is a German company in the healthcare sector . It operates over 45 clinics , therapy centers and outpatient clinics with a total of around 4,500 places for the therapy of mental and psychosomatic illnesses, for the treatment of alcohol, drug and medication addiction, and for sociotherapy as part of integration assistance. There are also therapy programs for children and adolescents. The company has around 2,650 employees.

The "AHG Assist" division belonged to AHG AG until October 2013 and was dedicated to health management. Since then, however, the former subsidiary has been operating on the market as an independent company with the name "EAP Assist" and the focus on employee advice based on the EAP concept ("Employee Assistance Program").

history

The company was founded in 1973 by Wolfgang Glahn with a concept for short-term therapy for alcohol and drug addicts in the AHG Clinic Tönisstein . In the mid-1970s, eight addiction clinics were opened, sociotherapy was developed and several therapy centers were set up for long-term chronic alcohol and drug addicts. In 1981 the first behavioral medicine-oriented psychosomatic rehabilitation clinic in Germany was founded in Bad Dürkheim . In 1990, the takeover, new construction and modernization of existing clinics in the new federal states took place. In 1993 the Science Council of the AHG was founded.

In 2003 the first outpatient rehabilitation for neurological, orthopedic and psychosomatic diseases took place. 2006 saw the establishment of AHG Assist for health management for companies ( Employee Assistance Program ). In 2007 nine clinics were taken over. In 2009 the first inpatient therapy concept for the treatment of "pathological PC and Internet use", colloquially " computer addiction, Internet addiction or online addiction ", was developed. On September 1, 2012, the Hilchenbach Neurology Clinic was sold to the Celenus Clinics .

Since October 2013, the former subsidiary "AHG Assist" has been operating under the name "EAP Assist" independently of AHG.

From 2011 to 2014, the AHG expanded its range to include a total of three specialist hospitals for acute treatment. In addition to the existing AHG Clinic Lübeck for inpatient withdrawal treatment, the Specialist Hospital for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy in Bad Pyrmont was opened in 2011 , the AHG Acute Clinic for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy in Odenwald in 2013 and the Acute Hospital for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy in Berus in 2014 . At the beginning of 2015, the AHG founded the AHG Health Center Essen for full-day outpatient rehabilitation of psychosomatic illnesses.

2016: Sale of AHG Allgemeine Hospitalgesellschaft AG by the Glahn family to Theracareco GmbH / Waterland Private Equity GmbH for the planned merger of AHG with Median Kliniken GmbH. End of 2016 change of the company form Aktiengesellschaft (AHG AG) to a limited liability company (AHG mbH)
