The Celenus Kliniken GmbH based in Offenburg is a subsidiary of Celenus SE and the same private-sector hospital group for inpatient and outpatient medical rehabilitation in Germany.

The group includes 17 inpatient rehabilitation clinics, an outpatient rehabilitation center, a health center and 26 rehabilitation centers. The Celenus clinics have a total capacity of around 2,900 beds and specialize in rehabilitation in the fields of orthopedics, rheumatology, neurology, cardiology, oncology and psychosomatic medicine as well as pediatric and adolescent medicine.

history

The clinic group was founded in September 2010. The eight inpatient rehabilitation clinics of the Marseille-Kliniken and an outpatient rehabilitation center of the Karlsruhe Sanatoriums AG were taken over by the funds managed by Auctus AG in Munich in the previous Auctus holding company. In September 2010, when the company was renamed Celenus, an international investor consortium took over three more rehabilitation clinics, which originally belonged to the insolvent SANITAS clinic group. The purchases were financed from funds, bank loans and mezzanine capital from the French private equity company La Financière Patrimoniale Européenne (LFPE) (part of the US investment bank Lazard ).

In addition, 100 percent of the operating companies of the Nexus Clinic in Baden-Baden and the Carolabad Clinic in Chemnitz were acquired via a newly founded subsidiary. Both clinics have a psychosomatic focus.

On September 1, 2012, the Clinic for Neurology Hilchenbach was taken over by the AHG Allgemeine Hospitalgesellschaft, thereby expanding the range of rehabilitation services to include neurology.

After the departure of the CEO Berthold Müller, the supervisory board of the Celenus Clinic Group appointed the company's previous CFO, Susanne Leciejewski, as the new chairwoman of the board on January 8, 2014. At the same time, the lawyer Thomas Schindler was newly appointed to the board, who had previously worked as a division manager for the company and is the managing partner of the Carolabad Clinic in Chemnitz, which has been part of the corporate group since 2012, and the Nexus Clinic in Baden-Baden.

In 2015 Celenus acquired a rehabilitation clinic in Bad Langensalza (Thuringia), in 2016 the Parkklinik Bad Bergzabern and in 2017 the majority stake in the salvea brand.
