Allison DuBois (born January 24, 1972 in Phoenix , Arizona ) claims to be a medium . She claims to be able to come into contact with the deceased. Her autobiography "No Farewell Forever" served as a template for the NBC series Medium - Nothing Remains Hidden , produced by Kelsey Grammer , in which DuBois is portrayed by Patricia Arquette .

DuBois claims to have had the ability to talk to the dead since she was 6 years old; at that time she received messages from her grandfather, who had recently passed away. After graduating from high school in 1990 , DuBois began studying political science at Arizona State University . Alongside her studies, she worked in the district attorney's office , where she had access to investigation files. DuBois claimed to have visions of the course of events while looking at the investigation pictures.

DuBois took part for four years in a project at Arizona State University, led by Gary Schwartz, to examine the psychological abilities of media . In various conversations with relatives or friends of the deceased, DuBois was allegedly able to provide detailed information about the deceased without knowing them himself. Schwartz then attested her abilities that corresponded to those of a medium.

Critics such as Paul Kurtz from the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry accuse her of using psychological tricks such as cold reading to convince her interlocutors that they have detailed knowledge about a person, even though she only made ambiguous and vague statements. The phenomenon of making vague statements about oneself or loved ones is based on the Barnum effect . DuBoi's allegation that he worked with law enforcement agencies to solve murders on several occasions, including the Glendale Arizona Police Department and the Texas Rangers , has not been confirmed by these agencies.

Allison DuBois is married and has three daughters.
