Allison Moorer (born June 21, 1972 ) is an American musician and singer.

Career

Moorer first became known with the song A Soft Place to Fall , which was selected in 1998 for the movie Der Pferdeflüsterer and in early 1999 was nominated for an Oscar as "best song". By 2000, Moorer had four smaller hits in the American country charts. The big breakthrough was denied to her despite a lucrative record deal with a major label .

The first albums to the show are pure country albums, while the following works from The Duel onwards go musically more in the direction of pop and rock and the lyrics separate themselves from the themes of Nashville country music.

Private

Moorer is the younger sister of Shelby Lynne and has been married to Steve Earle since 2005 . The couple have a son born in 2010.

In 1986, Moorer and her sister witnessed her father killing her mother first and then himself. Shelby Lynne subsequently took care of her sister.
