Allu or Allusaar is an Estonian island in the Baltic Sea . It is located 35 kilometers northeast of the Estonian capital Tallinn . Its historical German name is Allosaar or Allot .
Location and description
Allu is one kilometer east of the island of Rammu (German Rammo ). The uninhabited island administratively belongs to the Jõelähtme Municipality in Harju County .
The area of Allu is 1.56 hectares. It is around 250 meters long and 100 meters wide. The highest point is 1.5 meters above sea level .
Like most of the islands in the area, Allu is very rocky. There are numerous boulders on it .
The island belongs to the protected landscape area of Kolga Bay ( Kolga lahe maastikukaitseala ). It is a popular habitat and breeding ground for the sea birds of the Baltic Sea.
Allu is owned by the Prants family, who received it as a gift from the Russian tsar in the 19th century.
