Almut Seiler-Dietrich

Almut Seiler-Dietrich (born July 25, 1947 in Kirchhain , Marburg district ) is an author who has primarily emerged as a mediator of literature from sub-Saharan Africa in Germany.

During her school days, she spent from 1961 to 1963 in Kinshasa , then still Leopoldville, Democratic Republic of the Congo . After studying Romance and Slavic Studies in Giessen, Freiburg and Heidelberg, she worked for Janheinz Jahn from 1971 to 1973 and visited Nigeria and Cameroon from 1972 to 1973 . After passing the 2nd state examination, she worked for a year as a teaching assistant in the Offenbach area, before working as a French teacher at the Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Niamey , Niger, from 1975 to 1976 as part of the United Nations Development Programchanged. In 1976 she returned to Germany and worked as a high school teacher on Bergstrasse in Hesse until 2008. At the same time she wrote for newspapers, magazines, lexica ( KlfG ) and the Hessischer Rundfunk and translated a book by the Rwandan philosopher Alexis Kagame ("Language and Being. The Ontology of Bantu Central Africa". P. Kivouvou-Verlag - Editions Bantoues. Brazzaville -Heidelberg 1985).

In 2004 she was a monograph on the then unpublished diaries of Malagasy poet Jean-Joseph Rabearivelo from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main Dr. phil. PhD. ("Think of us in our quiet grottos. The diaries of the Malagasy poet Jean-Joseph Rabearivelo" Wissenschaftlicher Verlag Trier 2005). In 2010/11 she was a lecturer at the Romance Studies Institute at the University of Frankfurt.
