The Alois Drasche Park
Alois-Drasche-Park 9 / Radeckgasse 1–3, rental apartment building, built in 1902 by Otto Wagner junior

The Alois-Drasche-Park in the 4th district of Vienna , Wieden , is a 1.6-hectare, traffic-free park near the Wiedner Belt named after the cloth manufacturer and Wiedner benefactor Alois Drasche († 1892) . The park is lined with upscale rental apartment buildings of a late historical and secessionist character, which Felix Czeike and Friedrich Achleitner described as of different architectural quality .

The area around the park, the former Blecherne-Turm-Feld, was parceled out shortly before 1900. In 1898 the Alois-Drasche-Platz was officially named, and in 1899 the name was changed to Park. The city administration decided - a peculiarity for Vienna - not to provide any lanes between the houses to be built directly on the park and the green area, to interrupt the crossing alleys at the park and to keep the park completely free of traffic. The delivery to these houses must (have) therefore take place via their second wing, which is located on passable streets.

The houses on the park side only accessible to pedestrians are, starting on the northeast side, from No. 1 (corner of Seisgasse) via No. 4 and 5 (corner of Kolschitzkygasse), to the south No. 9 and 10 (corner of Radeckgasse), then to the west via No. 14 and 15 (corner of Hauslabgasse) to No. 18 (corner of Seisgasse) numbered like a seat. The south-western outer edge of the park area (Blechturmgasse) forms the border between the 4th and 5th district. The closest public transport stops are the Blechturmgasse underground station on tram line 18 and the Rainergasse stop on bus line 13A.

The most famous architects working here were Otto Wagner junior and Carl Holzmann . From Wagner jun. the drafts for houses No. 8 (second wing: Schelleingasse 46; year of construction 1902) and No. 9 (second wing: Radeckgasse 1–3; year of construction 1902) as well as for the houses at Johann-Strauss-Gasse 42 on the outer edge of the redevelopment area / Schelleingasse 42 (south-east outer corner; built in 1904) and Schelleingasse 44 (west next to the corner house; built in 1904). Holzmann designed houses No. 6 and No. 7.

The quiet bourgeois park in the Wilhelminian-era core area of the city should not be confused with the Draschepark in Vienna-Liesing , a peripheral green area impaired by a city motorway (Inzersdorf junction).
