Alois Baeran

Alois Baeran (born May 16, 1872 in Brno , † October 15, 1936 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and politician of the German National Party ( DNP ).

Life

Born the son of a public servant, Baeran studied law in Vienna after attending grammar school in Brno and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . During his studies in 1893 he became a member of the Arminia Brno fraternity .

In 1904 he became a member of the Moravian Parliament . He was the founder of the German Middle Class Party . In 1912 he founded the German national weekly Brünner Montagsblatt . From 1920 to 1923 he was a member and senator of the German National Party in the Prague Parliament , where he set off a stink bomb in 1922 , which is why he had to flee to Bavaria . In 1923 he was stripped of his parliamentary mandate, among other things because of allegations of espionage . He was sentenced to four years ' imprisonment by the Prague jury for high treason , but was soon released on health grounds . In 1925 he fled to Germany.

In 1942 the Dr-Alois-Baeran-Gasse in Brno was named after him.
