Alois Erhardt
Alois Erhardt (born February 24, 1827 in Bamberg ; † 1902 there ) was a German photographer .
Life
Erhardt is born out of wedlock to a washerwoman and a mechanic and is baptized Elisabetha.
The child spends the years 1837 to 1838 in the orphanage and with foster parents. His real gender was only discovered in 1838 and the name was changed to Alois.
Alois Erhardt learns the tailoring trade and goes hiking after completing his apprenticeship. He graduated from the vocational school and did not have to do military service due to his being unfit. He lives from casual work and shows a keen interest in technical innovations. From 1856 onwards he also took up photography.
In 1859 he asked the city's magistrate to be allowed to marry a 29-year-old daughter of a porcelain painter, with whom he already had a child. The marriage lasted until 1867. A boy was born in 1863 and a girl in 1866. Under what circumstances the couple lived at this time, and where, is unknown,
The city of Bamberg was doing well economically at this time. In 1869 the Bamberg magistrate decided to create an album of the buildings to be demolished. However, this decision will only be implemented three years later. Alois Erhardt, who has a special sponsor in the legal counsel Josef Herd, receives the order. Herd also comments on the photographs on the back.
However, the city's orders are not enough to make a living. Erhardt is always looking for city loans.
