Roberto Dani

Roberto Dani (* 1969 in Vicenza ) is an Italian jazz drummer.

Live and act

Dani worked with the rock band Devil Doll from 1989 to 1992 . After participating in various projects for contemporary music, he studied at Berklee College of Music a . a. at Hal Crook . Here he met the Finnish pianist Mika Pohjola , with whom he toured Europe, the USA and Japan and recorded several albums. In 1997 he worked with Kenny Wheeler . The following year he played ballet music by the composer Carlo Boccadoro for the Teatro alla Scala .

From 1998 Dani founded several ensembles of his own: Images with the singer Norma Winstone , the cellist Henning Sieverts and the pianist Glauco Venier , Interférences with the tuba player Michel Godard and the trumpeter Kyle Gregory (2000) and Instants with Louis Sclavis, the cellist Vincent Courtois and Kyle Gregory. Since 2003 he has mainly concentrated on solo projects.

He also took part in contemporary theater productions such as Luce Nera and Non ricominciamo la guerra di Troia (with actress Patricia Zanco ), Baldanders by Stefano Benni and Oscillazioni by Vitaliano Trevisan . As a sideman he worked a. a. with the Giorgio Gaslini Chamber Trio , the Stefano Battaglia Ensemble , Alberto Pinton , Roberto Bonati , Luciano Biondini , Ben Monder , Drew Gress , Mick Goodrick , Dave Liebman , Al Di Meola and Roberto Fabbriciani . Together with Michel Godard and Luciano Biondini, he is also part of Samo Šalamon's European Quartet .
