Alois Moser (born June 17, 1930 ; † January 1, 2013 in Latschach ) was an Austrian - Canadian skier who initially worked as a Nordic combined and later as a ski jumper .

Career

Born in Austria , Moser started skiing at an early age. At the age of 15 he was included in the selection of the ÖSV in the Nordic combined . A little later, however, he moved with his family to Canada, where he specialized in ski jumping . He quickly found acceptance into the Canadian national team.

He made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1959/60 . In the overall ranking he reached the 43rd place. A little later he played his only major tournament with the start of the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley . In the individual jumping on the normal hill he reached the 44th place with jumps on 62 and 64 meters.

After the end of his career, Moser came back to Latschach near Villach with his wife Gail and their daughters Toria and Sylvia , where he worked as a dentist and played golf . He died on January 2, 2013 and was buried on January 5, 2013.
