Alonso Cueto
Alonso Cueto Caballero (* 1954 in Lima ) is a Peruvian writer .
Life
He is the son of the philosopher Carlos Cueto Fernandini and the teacher Lilly Caballero Elbers . Alonso Cueto is the eldest of three brothers. Alonso Cueto studied at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima, where he graduated in 1977. After that he traveled through Europe for two years and taught a. a. in Madrid English. Following his trip, he began studying for a Masters and PhD at the University of Texas at Austin . The title of his dissertation from 1984 was “Los cuentos de Juan Carlos Onetti ” .
His first work, Labatalla Del Pasado (The Battle of Last Year), he published in 1983. It is a collection of short stories. His first novel was EL tigre blanco (The White Tiger).
Alonso Cueto is Professor of Journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and writes regularly for the newspaper Peru 21 .
