Alosa vistonica ( Greek Θρίτσα , Thritsa; Placka recká) is a fish from the herring family ( Clupeidae ). It is endemic to a single shallow lake, Lake Vistonida in Greece . Due to the increasing pollution and salinization of the lake and the destruction of the spawning grounds, the species is critically endangered (CR) if not already extinct.

features

A. vistonica has the typical, laterally flattened, slightly higher-backed shape of freshwater herrings and is a maximum of 17 cm long (?). The body is covered by relatively large round scales. The upper jaw is notched in the middle, the lower jaw extends to the back of the eye. The ploughshare is toothed. The jaw teeth are well developed. The number of gill trap rays is 78 to 97.
