Aloys Krieg (born December 14, 1955 in Ostbevern ) is a German university professor and mathematician .

Life

After graduating from high school Laurentianum in Warendorf he studied at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster mathematics with a minor in Business Administration , received his doctorate in 1983 with the work module functions on the quaternion half space at Max Koecher and habilitated there in 1989 after 1987/88 had taught as Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Diego .

In 1992, Krieg was awarded the Bennigsen Foerder Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 1993 he has held the Chair A for Mathematics at RWTH Aachen University . His area of ​​work is analytical number theory , especially the theory of modular forms in several variables.

From 1997 to 2004 he was a member of the DMV Presidium . From 2000 to 2004 he was dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences and from 2006 to 2008 spokesman for the group of professors at RWTH. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Wilhelm Foundation and is co-editor of the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences.

Since 2008 he has been Vice Rector for Teaching at RWTH Aachen University . He has been a member of the University Council of the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences since 2014 and has been its chairman since 2017. He has been a member of the administrative board for the Studierendenwerk Aachen since 2017.
