history

The Alm was first mapped and documented in 1857. It appears on the map with two brick dairy huts and 28 stable buildings. According to a dendrochronological study by the University of Innsbruck , the oldest woods used for construction were felled as early as the middle of the 16th century. However, these woods were used for different functions during various modifications. The old Dias-Alpe with its alpine dairy was in operation in its original function until 1981. In the following summer season it was replaced by an alpine pasture about 300 meters higher. From then on, the old alpine building was used as a holiday hut for tourists and the interior was adapted accordingly. After the Almanlage was placed under protection in 2007, the roofs of the buildings were first re-covered and the cow shears (shelters) repaired. In 2012, a concept for the future use of the alpine building as a museum was drawn up. The concept preserved all buildings as museums; In the form of an exhibition and a show dairy, insights into alpine life in 1981 are given. The implementation was accompanied by the Federal Monuments Office and was the impetus for the protection of further almanacs.

architecture

Sennhütte

The Sennhütte consists of stone-faced stone masonry set in clay and stuffed with lime mortar. Above it rise gable walls made of wood blocks and a wooden shingle-roofed gable roof. The house was built around 1910. The single-storey building is accessible on the gable side and houses a large dairy room, two cellar rooms for storing cheese and butter, a room, a bedroom and other sleeping places on the top floor.

Stable building

According to annual ring analyzes of the timber, the stable buildings were also renewed around 1910, with the oldest built-in tree trunks being felled in autumn / winter 1796/97. In the small-scale stables, the wooden block construction with shingle-roofed gable roofs predominates. Like the Sennhütte, they are accessible on the gable side and rest on bases made of quarry stone masonry. The buildings were all placed on the slope with approximately the same ridge orientation, parallel to the contour lines.
