The north side of the Alps is the collective term in Switzerland for the areas of Switzerland located in the north-west of the Swiss Alps .

The northern Alps includes the Jura , the Central Plateau , the Swiss Alps and the northern Alps, this is the train Berner (i w p..) - Uri - Glarus Alps (i. W p.) , So all the territory between the Alps breakthroughs of Rhone and Rhine .

The term north side of the Alps is mainly used in weather forecasts , as the weather here mostly differs from that on the south side of the Alps . The climate and vegetation also differ from the rest of Switzerland: Here, Atlantic influence predominates. Switzerland is not only divided into the north and south of the Alps, the Valais as well as the north and central Graubünden as well as the Engadin are seen independently ( inner-alpine climate ).

As the main settlement area in Switzerland, the north side of the Alps is culturally diverse.
