The AlpinClub Berlin, section of the German Alpine Club e. V. (DAV) is the second largest mountain sports club in Berlin with almost 4200 members, behind the Berlin section , and in the list of sections of the German Alpine Club at number 76. The section was founded on October 17, 1910 as the Charlottenburg section .

The association publishes four issues of its member magazine Berlin Alpin annually (until 1999 Charlottenburger Sektionsbote ). In Berlin he operates several outdoor climbing facilities in the districts of Spandau , Prenzlauer Berg , Reinickendorf , Neu-Hohenschönhausen and Marzahn as well as a small climbing hall for its members in Zehlendorf . In addition, he cooperates with commercial climbing and bouldering halls and a school sports hall.

Climbing facilities

The association operates:

  • in Spandau a two-part climbing tower on the Großer Spektesee with a height of 19 m made of shotcrete,
  • in Prenzlauer Berg the "Schwedter Nordwand", a 15 m high two-part concrete tower in the Mauerpark ,
  • in Marzahn and Hohenschönhausen two climbing towers, the " Wuhletalwächter " (17.5 m) and the "Monte Balcony" (15 m, [out of date] currently closed),
  • in Reinickendorf, in cooperation with a youth club, a two-sided artificial rock module wall (8 m),
  • in Spandau, in cooperation with a school, a climbing wall (7 m),
  • in Zehlendorf the climbing hall Hüttenweg (6 m).
