Wuhletalwächter
The Wuhletalwächter (also: Ahrensfelde climbing rock ) is an artificial six-sided rock in the Berlin district of Marzahn . It is operated by the AlpinClub Berlin , a section of the German Alpine Club , and is open to everyone, subject to the rules for climbing . The name Wuhletalwächter is derived from its position in the Wuhletal of the nearby Wuhle .
description
The 17.5 meter high artificial rock on the corner of Havemannstrasse and Kemberger Strasse consists of a concrete core made of 550 concrete slabs from Berlin balconies made of prefabricated buildings , which has been given a natural shape with shotcrete .
It was created in the late 1990s, when GDR buildings in Berlin were frequently renovated and ailing balcony parts were removed. There are around 500 m² of climbing space available on an area of around 10 meters × 10 meters. The climbing tower is surrounded by a boulder wall, which has about 400 m² of climbing surface. The rock offers levels of difficulty from UIAA 4+ to 10− on 43 different routes , with the lower area often being more difficult due to the lack of screwed handles. It was completed in 1998 and renovated in 2015.
