The Wuhletal

The Wuhletal is a green corridor in the north-eastern Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf on the river Wuhle , from which it takes its name. The park was established after the closure of the Falkenberg sewage treatment plant in 2002, which the Wuhle had previously used as a receiving water . The closure of the sewage treatment plant was viewed as critical by environmentalists because of the expected drop in the groundwater level in the area of the landscape park.

The Wuhletal hiking trail, newly created between 2002 and 2005, leads through it . The Wuhletal hiking trail is an approximately 15 kilometer long hiking trail that runs parallel to the Wuhle. The core of the path, which is usually accessible on both sides, extends from the Wuhletalwächter in Marzahn-Nord to the Köpenick S-Bahn station . The path, which was expanded in 2002–2005, is signposted at junctions with green signs indicating the direction and distances, so that the continuation of the path, which is sometimes not directly opposite, can be traced even after road crossings. Rest areas and benches have been created along the way, and viewing platforms have been created on the Kienberg and Biesdorfer Höhe.

There is an audio guide "Wuhletalwanderweg" for the route from the S-Bahn station Ahrensfelde via the Wuhletalwächter to the Gardens of the World . It provides information on eight stations on the walk through the Wuhletal and a map of the route.

The route, which is suitable for families with prams, cyclists and wheelchair users, is also often used for training by recreational athletes. The hiking trail also connects to four other connections: the Barnim Dörferweg on the northern city limits, the Wuhle-Hönow-Weg on Kyritzer Straße, the Neue Urbanität on Eisenacher Straße, and the Am Barnimhang route at the Wuhletal S and U-Bahn station .
