Alrich Nicolas (* 1956 ) is a Haitian diplomat and politician .

biography

Nicolas emigrated during the dictatorship of Jean-Claude Duvalier to Germany and completed in the 1980s to study sociology and economics , which he in 1995 with a doctorate to the Dr. rer. pole. graduated from the Free University of Berlin . He then became a lecturer at the Latin America Institute of the Free University of Berlin and later a visiting professor in Costa Rica . In addition, he is also active as an ethnologist and also wrote treatises on voodoo .

In 1996, during the government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, he was called back to Haiti, where he was initially advisor to the Minister of Culture. In 1996 he was appointed ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and held this office until 2005.

On August 25, 2008, he was appointed Foreign Minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Michèle Pierre-Louis by President René Préval . He was also Minister of Cults due to his expertise . During a visit to Cuba in May 2009, he concluded an anti- drug agreement with the Cuban Justice Minister María Esther Reus Gonzalez . In November 2009 he was replaced by Marie-Michèle Rey .
