The Alt Glacier is a 6.5 km long glacier that flows in a west-southwest direction from the Explorers Range in the Bowers Mountains to the Rennick Glacier , which it reaches north of Mount Soza .
The area was mapped by the United States Geological Survey and aerial photography by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after Jean Alt, a French meteorologist at Little America V station in the winter of 1958.
