Alt Jabel is a district of the community of Vielank in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Geography and transport links

Alt Jabel is located northeast of the center of Vielank. The state road L 06 runs southwest. The state border with Lower Saxony runs 7 km to the west.

history

Due to the widespread forest fire that broke out on June 30, 2019 at the former military training area Lübenheen , the place was evacuated in the night from June 30 to July 1. It was not until July 6, 2019 that the approximately 280 residents were able to return to their houses or apartments.

The list of architectural monuments in Vielank includes 17 architectural monuments for Alt Jabel , including

  • the neo-Gothic brick church from 1908 with retracted choir . It was built next to the ruins of the Michaeliskirche according to plans by the architect Friedrich Pries.
  • the church ruins in Kirchweg. The ruins of the Michaeliskirche from 1256 with a round arch were built from field stones . The church existed until around 1908, after which the wooden tower was demolished and the rest fell into disrepair.

  • the former parish stables, in which the Dat lütt Museum is open in the summer season.
