The old village chapel Lohma is located in the Lohma district of the Upper Palatinate town of Pleystein . Parishly it belongs to the Burkhardsrieth branch within the “Pastoral Care Unit Pleystein - Miesbrunn - Burkhardsrieth”.

history

Presumably a medieval wooden chapel once stood here ; During the renovation in 1976 a stone with the year "1712" was found, the presumable completion of the construction of the first stone chapel in Lohma. After the new local chapel was built in the village in 1927 , the old building was used as a fire extinguisher house until 1965. City and District Councilor Georg Wittmann suggested the renovation of the old chapel in 1976. The people of Lohma provided active help so that the walls could be restored and the roof could be covered with new shingles.

On July 17, 1977, the chapel was consecrated on behalf of the Regensburg Bishop Rudolf Graber by pastor Andreas Pfeiffer with the assistance of Expositus Hastler von Burkhardsrieth.

Structure

The chapel is a steep roof building over a rectangular floor plan. It has ogival window openings and a Gothic -looking entrance portal. There is a small ridge turret with a pyramid roof above the entrance . There is an oak tree on either side of the chapel.

Interior design

The chapel is dedicated to the memory of those who fell in World War II . The simple altar is made of clinker bricks. Behind it there is a large crucifix on the wall and next to it there are two votive tablets with the names of the fallen. Hermann Schneider designed the votive tablets as a pleystein; the Drexler, Wild and Reichenberger companies donated the cross in the chapel.
