Rudolf Eckert (Author)

Rudolf Eckert (born May 12, 1859 in Ohlau , † June 29, 1913 in Hildesheim ) was a German journalist , historian and poet .

Life

Born the son of a businessman, Eckert studied economics and political science in Breslau after attending grammar school in Ohlau . During his studies in 1879 he became a member of the Arminia Breslau fraternity . He became editor of the Bromberger Tageblatt and was editor-in-chief of the Neumärkische Zeitung in Landsberg a./Warthe from 1885 to 1893 . He was a co-founder of the Neumark History Association (VdGN), of which he was a board member and secretary. In 1891 he published the first edition of the VdGN's communications . He was editor-in-chief in Neumünster before opening a bookstore with a printing press in Heide in Holstein in 1901 . In 1903 he moved to Hildesheim, where he owned the printing press in the Golden Tower . He wrote several historical works and worked as an operetta librettist . In 1913 he hanged himself in Hildesheim.
