The Lohma village chapel is located in the Lohma district of the Upper Palatinate town of Pleystein . Parishly it belongs to the Burkhardsrieth branch within the “Pastoral Care Unit Pleystein-Miesbrun-Burkhardsrieth”.

history

Since the old village chapel was considered too small, the parish of Pleystein applied to the diocese of Regensburg to build a larger chapel ; this was approved by the Episcopal Ordinariate in 1924. The citizenry took over the construction work, but the construction of the chapel dragged on for three years because of different views of those involved in the construction: the supervisory authority was against a concrete floor, while the population was against a brick floor. But in 1926 construction could be finished.

Kand. theol. In December 1926, Sauer brought a portable altar stone from Regensburg and on July 21, 1927 Pastor Anton Sterr inaugurated the chapel. The Way of the Cross was consecrated on February 7, 1929 by Father Hugolin Pfeleger von Pfreimd . The Kick family donated a goblet with a paten and spoon, which had been consecrated by the Bishop of Eichstätt on March 9, 1931 . The bell foundry in Hamm delivered a bronze bell weighing 86 kg in June 1927.

Structure

The chapel is a steep roof building with a choir closed on three sides . A roof turret with a pointed helmet is attached to the roof above the entrance . During the renovation in 1969, at the suggestion of Expositus Hastler, a sacristy was added to the right of the entrance . In this exterior and interior renovation new stained glass windows were used by Schneider of Regensburg, the statues have been re- taken . Tower and roof were renewed and the outer walls repaired; again one could rely on the active help of the Lohmer population.

Interior design

The baroque altar originally stood in the chapel of Treswitz Castle , then came to Schwarzenfeld and was then acquired by the Lohma community. The interior was designed by the church painter Rauch from Eslarn , whereby a ceiling fresco with the resurrection of Christ could be exposed under a wooden ceiling .
