The Alte Kaisermühle is a building in Darmstadt-Eberstadt . Today the mill is used exclusively for residential purposes. For architectural, industrial and urban history reasons, the building is a cultural monument .
History and description
On the site of an older Pulvermühle which originated in 1716 mill facility . The mill has been renamed several times in the past. Around 1900 the mill was given the current name Alte Kaisermühle .
The mill complex is a square farmstead with a mill ditch. The mill complex consisted of the mill house, the miller's house, the servants' house, the warehouse and stables. The mill, which was last laid down except for the main building, was replaced by modern buildings in 1988 and 1989. The old main building of the mill was renovated.
Mill main building
The broad, voluminous two-storey main mill building has a beaver-tail-covered hipped roof . The half-timbered building with a massive basement is plastered except for the gable triangle . The original structure of the main building has largely been preserved. The main building is the historically significant part of the Mühlengeviert .
