House at Alte Schmidtgasse 11 in Gelnhausen

The building at Alte Schmidtgasse 11 (former Kutzleben house) in Gelnhausen , the district town of the Main-Kinzig district in southeastern Hesse , was built in 1740. The house on the corner of Am Rain Street is a protected cultural monument .

The plastered solid building, older in its core with a courtyard-side stair tower and fountain from the 16th century, stands on a high sandstone plinth with corner blocks . The ground floor has high windows with profiled and drilled walls made of light sandstone, formerly there were folding shutters on the eaves side .

A wide sandstone staircase leads to the baroque portal with attached skylight in richly designed sandstone walls. In the keystone of the door frame you can see the coat of arms of the builder family and below it the year 1740. The original cassette door with a handle in the middle has a lever handle in the shape of a lion's head.

The initials HMR and the year 1740 are affixed to the keystone of the arched gate on the garden wall.
