Old Forge

description

The current residential building, which is under monument protection , is a two-storey building, the main house of which, in contrast to almost all gable-side neighboring houses, stands with its long side directly on the footpath of the village green.

In the simply plastered building with five window axes is the former gate passage, which has now been converted into an entrance door, in the middle. This is framed by sandstone walls on the side, while a strong wooden beam is located above as a lintel. The ground floor windows are also framed by sandstone walls. On top of the building is a tiled hipped roof with a bat dormer .

history

In June 1898, the owner, master blacksmith Hermann Wagenzink, issued a building application for the forge, which was built in the middle of the 18th century, to demolish its dilapidated outbuilding and replace it with the construction of a new two-story outbuilding for forge and living on the upper floor. This side wing with a flat roof was to be connected to the front building on the right rear side as an extension, where the forge was already to the right of the passage, while living rooms were to the left of the passage. The design and construction was in the hands of F. A. Bernhard Große . Approval to use the extension was granted in February 1899.
