The Altenburg is a castle site suspected by Ernst Christmann, but not proven, at Reckweilerhof near Wolfstein in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The name Altenburg is only Flurnamen busy and refers to a field office in Reckweilerhof. The earliest mention dates back to 1560. There are no visible traces. The name suggests that in the 16th century the remains of a fortification with an unknown name could still be seen, but there are no documents or archaeological finds for a fortification. Christmann suspects an early medieval complex. The Spornlage ( Spornburg ) on a narrow mountain spur above the Reckweilerhof would speak for a fortification .
