Altenhuntorf is a district of the Lower Saxon town of Elsfleth on the Lower Weser .
history
The municipality of Moorriem was formed in 1933 from Altenhuntorf, Bardenfleth and Neuenbrok . This was incorporated by Elsfleth in 1974 and thus lost its independence.
church
In 1732 the St. Jacobi Church in Altenhuntorf in Butteldorf was built in the Baroque style. An older church was probably built from half-timbered houses. The free-standing, wooden bell tower dates from 1685. The bell that Hinrich Klinghe cast in 1467 and which is his only surviving bell was taken over from the previous building . The organ was rebuilt in 1738 by Johann Dietrich Busch , but was lost in 1908 by an organ by Johann Martin Schmid . An electronic organ is now installed behind the prospectus . The Flemish chandelier was made in 1782. The altar shows the resurrection of Christ in the middle, flanked by John the Baptist and presumably the Apostle James. The Lord's Supper is painted on the predella and Christ as Savior of the world is painted above the reredos . The parapets of the galleries have biblical scenes.
