Old Palace (Schwerin)
The Old Palace (also: Altstädtisches Palais , Prinzenpalais or Alexandrinenpalais ) in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state capital Schwerin is a half-timbered building on the Old Garden . The building, which was once used as a ducal residence, is now the seat of the state parliament administration. It is a listed building.
The Old Palace was built at the end of the 18th century, expanded by four axes in a northerly direction in 1799 and subsequently rebuilt several times. Among other things, Georg Adolf Demmler connected the neighboring house to the north at Schloßstraße 3 via an archway in 1837 . The two-story building and perpendicular double-leaf has a hipped roof , lucarnes and dormers .
The Old Palace was initially the residence of the Hereditary Prince Friedrich Ludwig and his wife Helena Pavlovna . Grand Duke Paul Friedrich used it as a residence from 1837 to 1842 and his wife Alexandrine as a widow's residence after the death of Paul Friedrich.
