The old rectory in Portnahaven, Scotland, on the Hebridean island of Islay is located about 300 meters west of the village, north of the A847 that connects Portnahaven with Bridgend . The building was available to the pastor of Portnahaven Church and is now used as a residential building. On August 28, 1980, the old rectory was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C.

description

Like the church that goes with it , the old rectory was planned and built by Thomas Telford around 1830. It shows typical architectural features of the end of the Georgian era . The building consists of two orthogonal two-story wings. These end with slate-covered gable roofs . Symmetrically arranged lattice windows along the plastered and whitewashed facades let daylight into the building. The chimneys are made of ashlar. There are numerous smaller extensions around the building, some of which were added later. On the front side there is a two-story loft with a tent roof as well as a one-story entrance area, which ends with a gable roof . The interior is historically interesting and in good condition.
