Old town hall Brehna

The old town hall of Brehna is a monument in the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt .

Brehna is mentioned as a village ( villa ) in 1201 , but it was made a town in 1274. Today there are two town halls. The old town hall is located on Bitterfelder Straße on the corner of Rathausgasse and thus south of the New Town Hall , which is also located on Bitterfelder Straße. It was built in the 16th century. The two-storey eaves building is a quarry stone building with a half-timbered upper storey. On the roof with the bat dormers sits a ridge turret with a lantern. The coat of arms and parts of the portal also date from the period after 1550.

The building in the northern area of the market burned out several times, around 1631 and 1713, so the upper floor in its current form dates from the time after the second fire. Today the Ratskeller is located in the former town hall . It is under monument protection and has the registration number 094 90 028 in the monument register .
