Sandersdorf-Brehna is a town in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Sandersdorf-Brehna is about 5 km west of Bitterfeld-Wolfen . There are some remaining open-cast mining holes in the municipality.
Community structure
The districts of Beyersdorf , Brehna , Carlsfeld, Glebitzsch , Heideloh , Köckern , Petersroda , Ramsin , Renneritz , Roitzsch , Sandersdorf , Torna and Zscherndorf belong to the community .
history
The independent communities of Glebitzsch, Petersroda, Roitzsch and the city of Brehna were incorporated into the unified community of Sandersdorf on July 1, 2009 , taking advantage of the voluntary phase of the municipal reform in Saxony-Anhalt .
At the same time it was agreed to rename the receiving community Sandersdorf to "Sandersdorf-Brehna" and to transfer the town charter of the incorporated Brehna to it.
Formation of the unified community Sandersdorf
The places Heideloh, Ramsin, Renneritz, Sandersdorf and Zscherndorf came together in 1992 to form the administrative community Sandersdorf . On July 1, 2004, the administrative community Sandersdorf was dissolved and the unified community Sandersdorf was created.
Incorporation in the other localities
- In 1928, Juliushof was incorporated into Beyersdorf. In 1950, the three communities Beyersdorf, Glebitzsch and Köckern formed the community Glebitzsch.
- Also in 1950 the municipality of Torna was incorporated into Brehna.

- Mass grave in the local cemetery for 181 prisoners of war as well as women and men who were abducted to Germany during the Second World War and forced to work in the surrounding armaments factories , which led to their death

Sports
There are several sports clubs in Sandersdorf-Brehna. The largest is the SG Union Sandersdorf . The city has been represented in the 2nd Pro B league since 2011 by the BSW Sixers basketball team .
education
There are six day-care centers in Sandersdorf-Brehna . There is also a primary school in the district of Brehna, in the district of Sandersdorf and one in the district of Zscherndorf, each of which also has a daycare center. There is also a secondary school in the Roitzsch district, which was only expanded in 2014. There are also three libraries in Sandersdorf-Brehna.
Economy and Infrastructure
The Berlin – Halle line has been running through the southern districts of the city since 1859 . The DB Station & Service operates the station Roitzsch (Kr Bitterfeld) and the breakpoint Brehna . Trains run every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends on the S-Bahn line S 8 to Halle (Saale) Hauptbahnhof and Bitterfeld . There are free connections to Dessau Hauptbahnhof and Lutherstadt Wittenberg Hauptbahnhof every 120 minutes . The reopened Bitterfeld – Zörbig railway is only used for freight traffic .
The federal motorway 9 runs through the city and can be reached via the Bitterfeld-Wolfen junction (intersection with federal highway 183 ) and Halle (Saale) (intersection with federal highway 100 ).
The Renneritz airfield has a 1000 meter long grass runway and is mainly used for gliding . In addition, Leipzig / Halle Airport is only 35 km away.
In May 2018, the corrugated board producer Progroup announced that it was building a factory for corrugated board base paper in Sandersdorf-Brehna for € 375 million.
