Zscherndorf is a district of the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna , in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district , in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Zscherndorf is about 5 km west of Bitterfeld and south of Sandersdorf. To the west, Zscherndorf is bounded by Ramsin, another district of Sandersdorf-Brehna. There are several remaining open pit holes here .

history

Zscherndorf was first mentioned in a document in 1310. Until 1815, the place belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office of Bitterfeld . Zscherndorf, Ramsin, Sandersdorf, Heideloh and Renneritz came together in 1992 to form the Sandersdorf administrative community. The coat of arms was designed by the local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and approved on February 23, 1994 by the Dessau Regional Council.

The municipality decided in 1993 to include the fire tower in the coat of arms and to represent a reference to the natural environment with the oak leaves that occupy the empty space in the upper part of the coat of arms.

Volunteer firefighter

The Zscherndorf Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded on January 16, 1910 and has been providing fire protection and general assistance here and within the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna ever since . The fire brigade is divided into the operations department, age department, youth fire department and children's fire department called "Löschzwerge". The fire station , where there are three emergency vehicles, can be seen on the coat of arms of the district and is a listed building.

Memorials

In the cemetery there is a Soviet honor grove with 191 graves for prisoners of war as well as Soviet women and men who were deported to Germany during the Second World War , concentrated in the "Marie" camp and used for forced labor .

Sports

With the VfB Zscherndorf 1919, the place has its own football club . In the meantime, the club disappeared from the football map of the district, but after the re-establishment in 2004, the club is in the process of rebuilding and added an A youth team. Zscherndorf also has a table tennis team.
