coat of arms

Blazon : "In gold, a green frog."

The coat of arms of the frog is based on a symbol used by the Petersroda community, which represents a frog and was already popular in GDR times. There is a legend that there once lived a child in Petersroda who looked and moved like a frog. There was also a frog well in town. The derivation of the coat of arms is more likely, however, from the geographical fact that five to six ponds were / are located in the district of Petersroda, which naturally gave off an immense croaking of frogs in spring.

In order not to create a loss of identity to the previously used symbolism, the image of the coat of arms was graphically implemented and tinged by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch according to the customs of heraldic style.

The shield of the coat of arms is tinged with gold, with gold referring to the grain fields, which were the basic food of the inhabitants in earlier times.
