Köckern is a district of the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt . From 1950 until the formation of the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna on July 1, 2009, the place was part of the Glebitzsch community.
geography
Köckern is located in the west of the city of Sandersdorf-Brehna. Glebitzsch joins directly to the south. To the north-east of the village is the landscape lake Köckern, a residual hole that was renatured after the end of lignite mining.
history
Köckern was first mentioned in 1156 as "Cachre". The place is of Slavic origin. Until 1815, Köckern belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office of Zörbig . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the district Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg of Saxony Province allocated to which he belonged until 1944th On July 1, 1950, Köckern was incorporated into Glebitzsch .
On July 1, 2009 the community of Glebitzsch merged with the city of Brehna , the unified community of Sandersdorf and the towns of Petersroda and Roitzsch to form the city of Sandersdorf-Brehna. Since then, Köckern has been a settlement area in the Glebitzsch district within the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna.
Transport links
Federal motorway 9 runs west of the town . There is a motorway service station called "Köckern" in both directions.
