Glebitzsch is a district of the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

Glebitzsch was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the town of Sandersdorf-Brehna on July 1, 2009, to which the districts of Köckern and Beyersdorf belonged. The last mayor of Glebitzsch was Arno Krassowski.

The place Glebitzsch is of Slavic origin. In 1207 he was first mentioned as Chlewiz . The basic Slavic form of the Glebitzsch Flur can be recognized by the horseshoe-shaped system, a so-called "Rundling". The opening of the horseshoe pointed south towards Brehna. It is still partially preserved today. Glebitzsch belonged to the Electoral Office of Bitterfeld until 1815 . The decisions of the Congress of Vienna the place to Prussia came only in 1816 the district Bitterfeld in the administrative district of Merseburg of Saxony Province allocated to which he belonged until 1944th

On July 1, 1950, Beyersdorf and Köckern were incorporated. Until around 1980 Glebitzsch had another district: Juliushof . This was first mentioned in a document in 1844. The place was resettled in 1982 due to its proximity to the transit route between the Federal Republic of Germany and West Berlin, today's A9. The last residents moved to Beyersdorf. Subsequently, their buildings and the paths were destroyed.

coat of arms

Blazon : “Divided by blue and silver obliquely on the left, the division is covered by a bar inclined in mixed up colors; at the top two golden ears of wheat on the stalk with leaves, at the bottom a blue horseshoe with the studs turned downwards and placed after the division with angular nail holes. "

Glebitzsch and its districts Beyersdorf and Köckern are obviously Slavic foundations. For centuries, they were small villages whose inhabitants, in addition to a few handicraft businesses, lived primarily on agriculture. For this reason, the two ears of wheat and the horseshoe were chosen as heraldic symbols. The two ears of wheat can also give a reference to the connected above-mentioned places, while the geometry of the horseshoe also points to the original layout of the community as a round village .

The coat of arms was designed in 2005 by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process.
