coat of arms
Blazon : "Diagonally left divided by gold and blue, above an upright striding, looking black tomcat with a black seven-tailed whip in his left paw, below after the division a golden miner's tooth and three golden ears of wheat."
The coat of arms symbols are based on a legend about the Kobold (Kowwelt) von Roitzsch, who, according to tradition, was a black animal in the form of a hamster or cat on an estate. The Bitterfeld sculptor and ceramist Christa Rötting artistically implemented this mythical creature on the occasion of the 950th anniversary of Roitzsch in 1993 and created a medal with his image. The heraldic figure of the goblin is based on their design. The ears of wheat and the mallet and iron refer to the agricultural and mining industries that once shaped the place.
The coat of arms was designed in 2005 by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .
