Old castle in its current condition

The so-called Alte Schlösschen is a historic half-timbered house at Rote Straße 3 in Zirndorf . It was built by the margrave of the Principality of Ansbach around 1674 . The original purpose was a hunting lodge, as its forests extended to the gates of the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg . Immediately next to it are the servants' residential buildings, horse stables and a brewery . The house has been owned by the Rosa / Plöchinger family since 1835 .

Construction

The ground floor was made entirely of sandstone , which was quite common for stately buildings in this area. The upper floor is a richly decorated half-timbered construction. The broad dwarf house is also richly decorated with nested Andrew's crosses , fire rams and carvings with half-columns.

The half-timbered structure is clearly influenced by the Nuremberg half-timbered building.

Todays use

The building has been renovated several times over the past few years. The State Office for Monument Preservation was involved in the renovation in 1988 . The original state of the framework , it was established, was ox blood colored. Over time, it was also painted green and blue. In 1988 the original condition was restored. Ingeborg Plöchinger was honored for this by the Middle Franconia district for outstanding monument preservation services.

The house is now used as a residential building.
