Altheim ob Weihung is a district of the Staig municipality in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg . With around 1200 inhabitants, Altheim is the largest suburb of the Staig municipality.
The clustered village almost grew together with Staig after the Second World War through a new building area.
history
Altheim is first handed down in 1194. Wiblingen Monastery owned goods here as early as 1194 . The monastery acquired extensive possessions from 1355 to 1774, so that before 1800 the counts Fugger (formerly Kirchberg county ) owned two thirds and the monastery Wiblingen one third of the manor .
The high- and low court within the Etters stood since 1775 the Count Fugger alone, while outside the Etters the monastery Wiblingen was involved. The lower court exercised both lords over their subjects.
Altheim came to Württemberg in 1806 and belonged to the Oberamt Wiblingen .
In terms of church, Altheim has always been a branch of the Catholic parish in Staig. The evangelical inhabitants belong to the community in Achstetten-Oberholzheim.
