Alto Orinoco is a municipality in the state of Amazonas , Venezuela , has an area of 49,217 km² and about 14,222 inhabitants (estimates for 2008). The main office is the village of La Esmeralda . The Orinoco has its origin on the eastern border of the municipality.

economy
